Location:  Cascade Manor House, 1970 Kibby Road, Jackson, Michigan  49203  517-784-1500.  (Directions:  From I-94 and north US-127 interchange:  Take West Avenue south 3 miles to Kibby Road, turn right.  Take Kibby Road 1/2 mile to the Manor House (west side of road).

 

CONFERENCE PRESENTATION SCHEDULE:  ($45 per person before October 1st.  $50 after October 1st.)

 

8:00 a.m. - Registration:  Pick up your prepaid conference packets and enjoy coffee and conversation.

 

8:30 a.m. - Introductions by Chairperson Greg Degowski and Honory Chairperson Pat Hackett.

 

8:50 a.m. - Tribute to Sam Breck by Don Meints.

 

8:55 a.m. - More introductions by the Chairperson.

2:15 p.m. - Sandy Duffy:  "A Brief History of the Port Huron and Detroit Railroad"

3:10 p.m. - Mark Worrall:  "A Day in the Life of the Michigan Central's Airline"

 

3:50 p.m. - Tom Klug:  "Railroad Freight Car Manufacturing and Social Conflicts in Gilded Age Detroit"

 

4:35 p.m. - Henry Burger:  "Ann Arbor Railroad:  Ann Arbor to Durand"

 

5:15 p.m. - Closing Remarks.

 

5:30 p.m. - End of the formal conference program.  Drive to the former Michigan Central Railroad shops complex, now Miller Trucking and Storage.

 

6:00 p.m. - Tour of former MCRR shops.  (Please display the MRHC name tag/pass).

 

7:30 p.m. - Afterglow at the former Lake Shore & Michigan Southern freight house (now Wendy's Restaurant) with an informal panel discussion about Michigan railroad history questions and concerns.
