The Steam Railroading Institute will operate a
diesel-powered train from Owosso to the Alma Highland
Festival on May 26th. The train will arrive at
Alma in time for their parade. spend the day in
Alma enjoying the sights, sounds and food of this annual
event and then ride the train back to Owosso in comfort.
Train leaves Owosso at 8:00 a.m. and leaves Alma at 5:00
p.m. arriving at Owosso about 7:00 p.m. Adults
$40, children $20. Ride in the caboose for $75.

October 27, 2012. The Steam
Railroading Institute offers Trains and Treats in Owosso
between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The fun starts at
11:00 a.m. with free rides on their 7 1/2 guage
miniature railway. Kids can pick out their own
pumpkins in the Pumpkin Patch area and enjoy cider and
donuts while sitting around the campfire. Back
outside, visitors can enjoy aboose rides and try their
pumpkin pie and ice cream. Kids should wear
costumes for the parade at 1:00 p.m.

Railroading Institute, now in its 9th season.
Share the joy of the holiday season by taking the family
on a magical train ride to the North Pole. This
exciting four-hour journey includes hot cocoa, visits
with Santa, holiday rides, model railroad displays, live
entertainment, holiday krafts and shopping.
Passengers will enjoy the nostalgic ambiance of riding
the rail while viewing the winter scenery of
mid-Michigan. Passengers depart from the SRI in
Owosso with the train being pulled by Great Lakes
Central diesel locomotives.
