This bridge carries both highway and rail traffic.  It is one of two primary bridges for reaching Zug Island by rail.  A third swing bridge is used as an escape route.  This bridge is not normally staffed, as large ships use the Short Cut Channel instead, bypassing this location.  The bridge is named for its length.
