This mine was on the
northeast side of Ishpeming in an area called the Teal Lake group of
mines. This mine was started by the Cleveland Iron Mining
Company. It was sold and operated as the
Nelson Mine in 1876,
and then sold back to the Cleveland Iron Mining Company in 1881 and
operated as the
Cleveland Hematite Mine. It was abandoned after the turn
of the century, and then opened in the 1940's as the Mather "A"
Mine. [EHMT]
