In operation in Ishpeming
in 1872 and was built going south from the Lake Angeline Mine on the
opposite and south side of the large Terrace Hill. This was a
Cliff's Iron Company Mine and was small but had rich ore that
improved as the shafts got deeper. The mine ran almost
continuously for 52 years until 1924. The mine shafts followed
along the base of Terrace Hill. It was served by the C&NW
Railroad. Much of the ore was transferred to the Pioneer
Furnace in Negaunee as well as other furnaces in the Upper
Peninsula. [EHMT]
