According to Jim Scribbins book the Milwaukee Road 1928-1985, the northbound Copper Country Limited was split into two trains on June 8, 1930. The Calumet portion was renumbered from No. 3 to No. 9. A new train known as the Iron Country Limited was established between Chicago and Iron River and was numbered No. 3. By 1938, it had been discontinued and the Iron River sleeper was carried in the consist of the Copper Country Limited westbound and the Chippewa eastbound. It was set out at Channing and handled in seperate trains No. 709 and No. 714 to Iron River. By 1943, these two trains were running as mixed trains from Channing to Iron River. The Copper Country Limited was numbered to No. 9 and 10 on October 30, 1955 and the ttain was discontinued on March 8, 1968.
