A GTW passenger train stops at the Corunna Depot

Chesapeake & Ohio 98, heads a passenger train which is about to depart Fort Street Union station, in September, 1948.  Fort Street Union Depot was owned by the Pere Marquette, Wabash and Pennsylvania Railroads and used by all three roads.  The depot was also used, for a time, by the Baltimore & Ohio, as well as the roads formed later by mergers and acquisitions.  Sixth Street tower, which controlled the interlocking at the entrance to FSUD, is at the left of the photograph.  From here, all roads used the Union Belt of Detroit to reach Delray Tower and points beyond.  Downtown Detroit is in the background..
