GTW No. 19 passes the Lowell water tank

 

Grand Trunk Western Train No. 19, steams west past the depot and water tank at Lowell, Michigan east of Grand Rapids, in 1937.  Train No. 19 is a Detroit to Grand Rapids local train.  Note the "candy cane" striping on the road crossing signals.  The pole on top of the water tower is probably a gauge indicating the amount of water in the tank (almost full).
