Baltimore
& Ohio #52, an EMD E-6 passenger diesel, stands ready at the
Pere Marquette 21st Street Roundhouse in southwest Detroit.
This early EMD streamlined locomotive and its companion B-Unit
will power the B&O Ambassador, a named daily passenger train
from Fort Street Union Station in Detroit to Union Station in
Washington, D.C. The photo was taken in the 1940's.
The Ambassador, no doubt, was the train of choice for Michigan's
two senators and most of our Congressmen when they traveled
between our home and the seat of the Federal Government.
