The Detroit,
Toledo & Ironton's Delta turn heads southbound from Flat Rock
Yard, enroute to Delta, Ohio, and interchange with the Wabash
and New York Central Railroads. As part of Henry Ford's
massive restructuring of the DT&I, a long graded overpass was
built over the two roads at Delta, with an interchange yard
in-between. Ford Motor used the DT&I as a long "terminal
railroad" for incoming and outgoing loads to the Rouge complex.
This photo was taken on November 6, 1955 near the M-24 overpass.
