C&O 3714 passes the interlocking tower at Mershon.

Mershon Tower stood guard at the north entrance to the Saginaw Terminal.  Officially, this was an interlocking tower which controlled the C&O's Ludington Subdivision crossing of the New York Central and Grand Trunk Western lines north to Bay City.  The C&O also crossed its own line to reach industry on the west side of the Saginaw River.  This photo is facing north, and the C&O 3714 is returning from the elevators north of town.  October, 1983
