Lake Superior & Ishpeming 32, a 2-8-0, in on standby with steam at the Presque Isle Roundhouse north of Marquette.  Can you visualize this locomotive pushing loaded ore hoppers up the grade to the Presque Isle Dock?  October 18, 1956.  Until the diesel era was firmly in place on the LS&I, locomotive maintenance was performed in Presque Isle.  Trains west from here were predominantly ore.  Presque Isle locomotives were also dispatched south (east) from here to Munising and Little Lake.
