Comments from RRHX Bulletin Board ("Graydon Meints") 1/11/2004: The Michigan Central/CK&S interlocking at Hastings was originally manned, with a tower which was built in 1889 when the CK&S was built. At some point the tower was torn down, and the interlocking was changed by switch crews wanting to make a move on the CK&S across the MC. The interchange wye was in the southwest quadrant and the industries on the CK&S were on the north side. Comments from RRHX Bulletin Board ("Graydon Meints") 8/14/2005: The Hastings Freight House was an honest-to-goodness freight house located on the south side of the right of way, on the north side of State St. just about at the foot of Dibble St. It was torn down years ago. I worked there for two weeks back in the early '60s when Victor G. Lett was the agent.
