| When interurban railways cross main line railroads, normally the main railroad is protected with derails from errant operation by the interurban. In this case, it is an MCRR spur which crosses the interurban, and the emphasis of the protection is the opposite. The derails are set to protect passenger cars on the interurban against errant moves by an MCRR freight switcher. |
