Above, a 2005 view of the CN Quinnesec subdivision looking east at Loretto, in Dickenson County.  Branching off to the left (to the northeast) is the right-of-way of the C&NW cutoff to Sturgeon.  The C&NW had two routes to Escanaba from the Iron Mountain area and this was a crossover point.  Note:  The Wisconsin & Michigan also crossed under the C&NW line about 50 yards west of this highway grade crossing.  The remnants of the W&M underpass and grade are still visible even though it has been filled in.  [Dale Berry]  Below, C&NW 1904 works in Iron Mountain - Escanaba ore service in 1973.  [Greg Bunce]
