Above, MA Tower in Lansing.  Located at Michigan Avenue just east of the state capital, MA controlled the junction between the old Michigan Central and the Pere Marquette.  MA also controlled the block of double track north past Union Station and on to North Lansing Tower.  1984  [Jim Slater photo.]  Below, a night shot of MA Tower, taken in December, 1974.  [Dennis Schmidt]

Comments from RRHX Bulletin Board ("Tim") on 1/3/2004:  The towers at North Lansing and MA were identical and both contained desk top mechanical interlockers.  Both also controlled the highway protection via an electrical switch in the tower.  When North Lansing closed, an electrical interlocking box (a small CTC style box) was installed at MA and the gates were automated.  A local model railroad club tore down the tower at North Lansing in January, 1964 for materials to remodel their GTW depot in Millett.  The stairs are still in service to the basement there.
