Above, the Michigan Central Railroad Jackson Depot in the early 1900's, also known as Union Station.  [Mark Worrall Collection]  Below, another postcard of the Michigan Central Railroad depot around the same time.

Another view of the depot with the crossing bucks, which were also used to protect the crossing from the interurban street cars which crossed on Michigan Avenue at this location.  The depot has been restored and still exists - the oldest working Amtrak depot in the United States.  Below, an aerial view of the depot, showing a westbound passenger train at the station.

Above, another view of the MCRR depot.  Below, this postcard view shows the gates across the rails, which kept pedestrians and trespassers away from the tracks and trains.

A local newspaper article from 1872 describing the Jackson Union station, which is under construction.  [Doug Leffler collection].
