  • (16.45 miles west of St. Ignace Docks).  A water tank was located at Nogi on the east side of the DSS&A adjacent to the bank of the Carp River.  The water from the stream provided water for the steam locomotives.  The Central Paper Company of Muskegon built a sawmill at Nogi in 1905 to cut hemlock and pine.  The sawmill village lasted about 20 years until forest fires destroyed the remaining timber.  [CB/MIHX8]
