Above, Empire Jct. looking south towards the Empire Mine.  The tailings of the mine are piled in the background of this photograph.  Empire Jct. is remotely controlled by the LS&I control operator at Eagle Mills in Negaunee.  It is the junction of the joint LS&I/CN line from Eagle Mills to the Empire and Tilden Mines, and the CN's main line east to Escanaba.  2006.  [Dale Berry]
