The Pere Marquette depot at Novi, with the local elevator in the background.  Though it has never been fully established, many people believe that the name "Novi" comes from the town's stop on the old Detroit to Lansing plank road.  Novi was apparently stop "No. VI" (or "6") on this route to the state capital.   Below, the same depot in an overhead view.  [Photos, Alan Loftis Collection]
