Above,
the car repair shop for the Lake Superior Lumber Company in
Ontonagon, with the mill in the background. This would have
been approximately on the small strip of land between the downtown,
the mill race, and the Ontonagon River. No trace of it can be
seen today (in 2005). This interesting image contains wheel
sets, bad-ordered flat car of logs, as well as early sawdust/wood
chip cars in the background. Strangely, only one bay of the
repair shed has tracks. According to Mark Worrall, no less
than four engine houses existed in Ontonagon in this era.
