Waters, Michigan was created around 1873 by the Wright-Wells Lumber Company.  The town was on the right of way of the Michigan Central Railroad's Bay City to Mackinaw City main line just north of the Crawford-Otsego county line.  The town was originally called Bradford Lake, but was changed to Waters in 1885.  Bibliography.
