Wayne Jct. is the interlocking of the E-W Conrail line crossing the N-S Chessie System line.  An "armstrong" type 2-story interlocking controlled this crossing.  The tower was staffed by Conrail operators.  This photo above was taken on April 28, 1985.  The rain is DREL (Detroit to Elkhart, Indiana).  The older photo below is from the Penn Central era, on June11, 1975. Note the iron "Wayne Jct. sign".  Both photos by Charlie Whipp.
