Cadillac Rail Facilities:

The
GR&I railroad came to Clam Lake (Cadillac) in late 1870.
In 1887, the Ann Arbor Railroad was constructed into town from
the south and was extended to Frankfort in 1889. The
Cadillac & Northeastern, a 3' gauge logging railroad owned by
the Cummer Lumber Company, was opened in 1884 and was abandoned
around 1900. The former GR&I was removed south of town in
1991. [MRRC]
The
Village of Clam Lake was created in 1872 at the eastern end of
the lake. It was incorporated the City of Cadillac in
