Cadillac Rail Facilities:

The GR&I railroad came to Clam Lake (Cadillac) in late 1870.  In 1887, the Ann Arbor Railroad was constructed into town from the south and was extended to Frankfort in 1889.  The Cadillac & Northeastern, a 3' gauge logging railroad owned by the Cummer Lumber Company, was opened in 1884 and was abandoned around 1900.  The former GR&I was removed south of town in 1991.  [MRRC]

The Village of Clam Lake was created in 1872 at the eastern end of the lake.  It was incorporated the City of Cadillac in 1877. [MPN]
