Grand Rapids & Indiana's North Yard at Cadillac, Michigan.  The photos show a GR&I locomotive tender being filled with coal by a rail-based steam derrick, using coal from the cars at the left.  This was a common method of filling tenders in larger towns which did not have coaling docks.  (In smaller towns, it was often hand shoveled).  The photo below is a blow up of the upper photo.  Note the GR&I roundhouse in the background.  The pole at the right appears to hold an early electric light for the yard.

Walgreen's store now occupies the site of the GR&I round house & turntable on southeast corner of 13th Street and North Mitchell (old US-131).
