  • First electric motor powers locomotive.  [DWS]

  • The "Toledo War" of 1835-1836 results in Michigan's relinquishing to Ohio the "Toledo Strip", a 468 square mile area stretching from Lake Erie to western Hillsdale County, including Toledo.  In exchange, Michigan received the western Upper Peninsula.  [BOM]
