  • June 25:  The Central road reaches Albion from Jackson.  [MCR-75]

  • August 12:  The Central line reaches Marshall from Albion.  [MCR-75/AAD]

  • Autumn:  The Detroit & Milwaukee extends their road from Birmingham to Pontiac.  [MCR-75].  Dated by other sources as July 4, 1843.


  • The Palmyra & Jacksonburg Railroad sells their road from Palmyra to Tecumseh to the State of Michigan.  The state united it with the southern road, calling it the Tecumseh branch. [LS]

  • The Central line's extension from the depot at Michigan and Woodward to the river wharf is abandoned due to little use.  [HWC]

  • Wells and Company establishes a freight express office in Marshall, one of the first such offices in Michigan.  [AAD]
