June 12:  Craig Burroughs leases the Mellen, WI to Bessemer, MI line from the Wisconsin Central and begins freight operations.  The operation, which used a former LS&I GE U23C, ceased on February 12, 1995.

June:  The Union Belt of Detroit is dissolved.  [EMR4]
