Note from the Wisconsin DOT State Rail Plan in 1979:

This line is part of a system which extends into Michigan's Upper Peninsula and connects with other lines there.  The seciton in Wisconsin is 88.6 miles long and extends through Brown, Oconto, and Marinette counties.  In 1978 there were 16 carloads originating and 278 carloads terminating on the line.  1058 carloads of overhead traffic were also carried.  the primary outbound commodities were pulpwood and food products.  The primary inbound commodities were fertilizer and lumber.  Train service is daily except Sunday with two trains, one in each direction.  The track is almost entirely 90 lb. rail with short sections of 100 lb. near Lena and Pembine.  The timetable speed is 30 mph.  Track and ballast conditions are reasonably good.  To consolidate service and eliminate redundent track, the MILW negotiated a trackage rights agreement with the C&NW between Green Bay and Marinette which in turn will permit the abandonment of their own track from Crivits to Marinette.
