Royal Oak was located on the former Detroit & Milwaukee railroad (later GTW/CN) about five miles north of Wayne County and about 15 miles southeast of downtown Pontiac. It was also served by an electric interurban line from Detroit north to Pontiac, as well as a branch line north to Rochester and ultimately Imlay City in Lapeer County.

Time Line

1912. The 20-month old babe of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keith strayed away from home four miles south of Birmingham yesterday, and was run over and killed by a Grand Trunk flyer. Mr. Keith is a metal polisher and works in Detroit. [DET-1912-1005]

1917. The GTW had an operator around the clock as well as a station agent. [TRT]
