Twin Lake Junction was a significant AuSable & North Western railroad junction in eastern Oscoda County. The main line from Ausable came northwest to here through Iosco and Alcona counties. From this point, the main line continued to Comins. There were also branches of the railroad southwest to Luzerne and northwest to Lewiston. Twin Lake Junction was about one mile north of Potts/McKinley which was the forest headquarters for the railroad which was built by the J.E. Potts Salt & Lumber company. They had a mill and railroad shops at McKinley.

The ASNW railroad was sold to the Detroit & Mackinac railroad which changed the gauge to standard gauge.
