Station: Doty, MI (Interlocking)
Doty was a junction point located on the Munising, Marquette and Southwestern (later LS&I) in Alger County. It was established in 1901 when the railroad ran a spur for the Superior Veneer & Cooperage Company into the woods north of this location. [MPN] The line was later extended to Sunrise Lansing. At Doty, the line also crossed the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Ry. The line was known as Evelyn by the Soo Line and later as Forest Center.

1924 - MICHIGAN PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION.
In the Matter of the Application of Hill & Belknap for Permission to Cross with 24-Inch Gauge Industrial Track Railroad the Tracks of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad at a Point Known as Doty. 8007-88. July 31, 1924.
Prior to the receipt of said application the Commission received a communication from R. C. Young, Chief Engineer of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad Company, advising that they had no objections to this crossing on account of the same being within the derail limits of the crossing with the tracks of the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railway at Doty;
THEREFORE, the Commission after due consideration of said application together with said letter, HEREBY orders, That permission be and the same is hereby granted to Hill and Belknap to cross with their industrial track railroad the tracks of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad at a point known as Doty; and It is FURTHER ordered, That the manner in which this crossing shall be operated over shall be according to arrangements made between Hill & Belknap and the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad Company.

A telegram having been received from C. E. Lytle, Superintendent of the Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Railway, advising that they have no objections to the proposed crossing as requested by Hill & Belknap, provided that Hill & Belknap agree to keep a man close by to remove run-over track when the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railroad Company has engines to turn on the Y, and at night time that the Y tracks be left unobstructed. The Commission, after due consideration of said application together with said telegram, has concluded that the request is a reasonable one; and
THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that permission be and the same is hereby granted to Hill & Belknap to cross with their 24-inch gauge indus trial track railroad the Y tracks of the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railway at Evelyn, subject to the following conditions, to-wit:
That all expense in connection with the installation and the removing of said tracks and the protection of same be borne by Hill & Belknap ; and It is FURTHER ORDERED,
That arrangements be made by Hill & Belknap with C. E. Lytle, Superintendent of the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railway Company, providing for the movements over said Y tracks and the maintaining of a wtachman at said crossings, for the purpose of removing same when it becomes necessary for engines on the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railway to occupy said Y tracks.
