Station: Summit, MI

Summit was at the top of the grade on this branch. It was located at milepost 7.0 and was about 1,167 feet above Lake Superior. (Note: Nestoria was at 1,070 feet above lake lvel and L'Anse at the other end was at 89' above lake level. The decline from Summit to L'Anse was about 1,000 feet over ten miles.

The railroad had several sidings at Summit, used as a ending point for helper engines on southbound trains climbing the hill. [DSSM] notes an "old tank" here but dates are not noted. [DSSM]
