  • First electric motor powers a locomotive. [DWS]

  • The "Toledo War" of 1835-1836 results in Michigan's relinquishing to Ohio the "Toledo Strip", a 468 square mile area stretching from Lake Erie to western Hillsdale County, including Toledo. In exchange, Michigan received the western Upper Peninsula. [BOM]

  • The Rogers Locomotive works is created. [SAM]

  • SNAPSHOT: There were six wagon roads radiating out from Detroit, to: Fort Gratiot (Port Huron); Flint; Muskegon; St. Joseph; Chicago; and Toledo. [HGD-1918-pg. 286]
