  • August - The Ann Arbor Railroad removes the automatic interlocking at Pittsfield Junction, replacing it with dual gates. The signals and approach signals are also removed. The railroad also begins storing tank cars on the Saline branch, indicating that regular freight customers on the branch no longer exist.

  • August - The owners of the Michigan Central station in Detroit, long abandoned, have replaced about 60% of the windows in the building, with a goal of 100% by the end of the year
