Notes

Cherokee Mine was located southwest of Winona in in Greenland Township in Ontonagon County. It was first operated in 1910. This was an underground copper mine consisting of one shaft located near Twin Lakes, MI. The Cherokee Copper Co. was organized and opened a mine on the Winona Lode. Little is known about this operation, when it opened, closed, or if any copper was recovered. [MINDAT]
