The Michigan Air Line - Railmark - Railroad was formed in the early 2000's to purchase the former Coe Rail, operating from Wixom to Walled Lake. (This is on the former Michigan Air Line right-of-way, or Jackson Branch of the Grand Trunk Western).
2011. MAL, formally Coe Rail, has filed to abandon the remaining 5.4 miles of railroad. They connect with CSX in Wixom. Only one consignee remains who receives plastic pellets in covered hoppers. [MRF-2011-06]
2011. May 18. The STB denied MAL's request to terminate service on its 5.45 mile line in Oakland County. The STB stated MAL did not provide sufficient evidence regarding revenues and costs associated with the line. This made it impossible to determine what burden MAL incurs in continuing to operate there as there is still an active shipper (American Plastic Toys) on the line. [MRF-2011-10]
2012. May. The modern-day MAL has made their last run, an equipment move from Walled Lake to the CSX interchange at Wixom. F7 #725 (stenciled ABRS for AB Rail Investments) and SW1200 #1512 (stenciled Railmark) were set out at Wixom for pick up. They are rumored to be going to the Adrian & Blissfield railroad. On May 5th, salvage crews began pulling spikes and removing rail. [MRF-2012-08]
