Disposition: Converted to auto ferry use.
Length: 393 feet. Holds 34 rail cars.
Type: Reinfored hull for ice-breaking.

This was a railroad, passenger and vehicle ferry. It was named after the University of Wisconsin's athletic teams.
It is a twin of the SS Spartan. This vessel is registered as a historical site in Michigan and Wisconsin.
2011. The Badger, the former C&O Lake Michigan car ferry, received permission from the EPA allowing it to continue disposing of coal ash into Lake Michigan. The original ruling was due to expire in 2012 threatening continued operation of the vessel. [MRF-2012-02]
