Notes

Time Line

1890. March. No. 1 shaft house is completed and ready for use. Plans for house and pocket at No. 2 shaft are ready and the work of construction is going on at a liverly rate. The property is in good shape and with the completion of carpenter work, mining will be started on a large scale. [DD-1890-0329]

1890. August. The stripping at the Manganate mine is within eight feet of the ledge. Supt. Gilbert is of the opinion that by another month active mining will be in progress in the open pit. [DD-1890-0809]

1890. November. Ore is being mined from the west end of the open pit at the Manganate mine. No effort will be made to accummulate a great stock pile this winter; all energy will be directed towards putting the property in the best possible shape for work next year. [DD-1890-1108]

1890. November. Two derricks and a hoisting plant are in position at the open pit. The deposit of manganese in No. 1 shaft continues to improve and will no doubt yet prove the best part of the mine. [GOA-1l890-1108]
