Method: In 1878, five large open pits, will begin underground mining soon.

Railroad connection: M&O

Stamp Mill/Pellet Plant: Ore sent to Munising Furnace.

Until: 1878.

Lifetime Production: 164,322 tons of iron ore through 1878.

1871. New spur to mine laid south from Negaunee to this mine. [DSS]

1877. Replaced machinery damaged by fire. Mine has 85.5% iron, 10.6% manganese.

1878. 60% metallic iron, 1.5% metallic manganese.
