The Prince of Wales Mine was located in Negaunee, north of Empire Junction in Marquette County.
Mechanical equipment consists of 26x60" duplex, reverse, Corliss first motion hoisting engine, one drum grooved for 1 3/8" rope. Automatic throttle closing device and steam brake. Two skips and two cages operate in balance. Air is provided by a second Corliss engine.

1890. This mine is owned by the Schlesinger Syndicate of Milwaukee. [DD=1890-0823]
1891. January. Negotiations are now pending for the purchase of a series of mines by the Vanderbilts. This includes the Chapin, Florence, Iron River, Youngstown and the East Negaunee group. All now owned by the Schlesinger syndicate. The valuation is $5,000,000. [LSJ-1891-0127]
