Military Use: To prevent British colonists from moving into the west.


Established on the west bank of the Detroit River by the French in 1701.  Taken over by the British in 1760 and held through the Revolutionary War and then turned over to the U.S.

The site is now occupied by the Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Riverfront hotel.
