1863. Received former M&O Railway land grant from state legislature. [DSS]
1865. Construction began west from Lake Superior mine towards Ontonagon, from a point 2 miles north of Winthrop at a location known as Ontonagon Junction. This was a connection with the BdN&M. Mining interests south of Lake Michigamme motivated the M&O to build south of the lake. The line was completed approximately to Champion. [DSS]
1871. August. The BdN&M is consolidated into the M&O through a stock exchange. [DSS]
