Station: Sandstone, MI

Sandstone was settled in western Jackson County about 1832. For a time, it was known as Barry or Berryville. It was located on the Michigan Central main line east of Parma, more specifically at Sandstone Road and West Michigan Avenue.

Time Line

1875. February. As the Atlantic Express on the MC road was a few miles west of Jackson, one of the coaches in which there were no passengers, took fire and was consumed. The other cars, five in number, were cut loose and escaped injury. [NREP1875-0218]

1920. On the Michigan Central, this is a prepaid station with no agent. [MCOAS]
