Location: Phoenix, MI

Phoenix is an unincorporated community in Keweenaw County, Michigan. It's located near the shores of Lake Superior, about two miles south of Eagle River. Phoenix is one of Michigan's Upper Peninsula ghost towns.

Phoenix was the site of the Phoenix Mine, one of the first copper mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Phoenix Mining Company was organized in 1849. The Keweenaw County Historical Society has preserved the Church of the Assumption and Bammert Blacksmith Shop, which were established in the 1800s.
 
Phoenix is located at the junction of M-26 and U.S. Route 41. It's about 20 miles from Copper Harbor and minutes from Eagle River. [GGAI]
