Location: Republic, MI - Milwaukee Junction, MI (Marquette County)

Republic Junction Blueprint Milwaukee Junction was the DSS&A name for a crossing of their railroad with the Chicago & Northwestern and Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul railways. It was at milepost 6.7 of the DSS&A's Republic Branch, about two miles north of Republic. This was in Section 32 of T47N-R29W. [DSSM]

Also called Republic Jct. on the Milwaukee Road and later by the LS&I which built through here in 1952. In the early days, this was an interlocked crossing. [MCR-1904]

Notes

This crossing was located about one mile north of Republic at CNW milepost 201.2. The single track of the DSS&A crossed the parallel double track of the C&NW Republic Branch, and the MILW main line from Republic to Champion.

This crossing had an interlocking tower with home and distant signals. There was also a connection between the South Shore and the MILW. (See blueprint). The tower, whicn was located in the northwest quadrant of the crossing had a 20-lever interlocking machine with 19 working levers and one spare.

On the C&NW this was called "DSS&A Crossing". [CNWV]

The southbound MILW line left the C&NW about 1/2 mile south of the tower to enter Republic. [CNWV]

See Republic Junction page which shows the location after the LS&I built their Republic Branch through here in 1952 using the DSS&A grade north of here, and the C&NW grade south to the mine.
