This was the original City of Saginaw on the west side of the river. The original Jackson, Lansing & Saginaw came up here along the river, enroute to Bay City and beyond.
Image info: Top, this photo was taken in March, 1916 during a flood of the Saginaw River. A series of loaded MCRR log cars are on the branch line awaiting their disposition. The bridge over the river, which is slightly open, was the original Court Street swing bridge. The building at the left of the railroad appears to be the MC's Court Street depot. 2nd image, a Birdseye view of the tracks at the west side of the GTW Saginaw River drawbridge. Date Unknown.
1869. A man by the name of J. Wills, with his wife and three children came into Saginaw yesterday on the JL&S from Chicago. He was robbed of his last cent by confidence operators. A man met him, representing that he was going to the same place that Wills was going, Vassar, and asked Wills to go with him to look after his trunk. Arriving at the depot he was jostled about and robbed of $25, all the money he had. [DFP-1869-1105]
