Location: Detroit, MI - MC Stock Yards

The Michigan Central stock yards were located south of Junction Yard along the wye to the Detroit-Toledo Branch near Waterman Avenue.


Notes

Prior to building the MC depot in 1908, the Michigan Central had stock yards on the site of the depot. This has been confirmed by [NHMC] over a number of years.


Time Line

1882. The MC stock yard will be finished and ready for occupancy by October 15 when the old yards will be arranged for the reception of tream freight, the most of which has been handles in the yards at the Woodbridge street crossing. [DFP-1882-0930]

1920. On the Michigan Central, this is a freight station and W. E. Smith is the superintendent. [MCOAS]
