Industry: Middle Lake Marl Bed, Alpena Portland Cement Company

The Alpena Portland Cement company built a 9 mile branch line from their new plant on Alpena Bay, to a large marl bed which was located between Lake Huron and Long Lake. The marl bed was mined and later became Middle Lake.
