Industry: Davidson Shipyard, Bay City, MI

The Davidson Shipyard was located on the western shore of the Saginaw River in Bay City, which was on the southern side of the current Veterans Memorial Park. The company was founded in 1873 and operated until the early 1940's. James Davidson founded the company and was in charge of operations until he passed away in 1929. [LIM]


Notes

When the operation closed, there were a number of ships under construction or under repair. They were abandoned and later burned to the water line. The metal components of these ships are visible in the river at low tide. [LIM]
